INT. LIVING ROOM -- STORMY NIGHT.

The familiar hue of light from a television washes over an otherwise dark middle class American living room.
A geeky teenage boy - OLDER BROTHER - is channel surfing from the comfort of a reclined armchair. The television
BLINKS QUICKLY between channels as he lazily clicks the remote.
Lying on a couch nearby is GEORGIA, a cute-as-a-button young girl of about 6. She loyally STARES AT THE BOX as it continues to seizure.
A fatherly figure - DAD - enters the living room.

DAD
Georgia... it’s late.

Georgia rolls over, looks up at her father and YAWNS.

GEORGIA
But I’m not even tired.

INT. STAIRCASE -- MOMENTS LATER.
Dad ascends the stairs carrying a lifeless Georgia.

INT. GEORGIA’S BEDROOM -- MOMENTS LATER.
Dad finishes tucking Georgia into bed and walks to the door.

DAD
No nightmares?

GEORGIA
Only sweet dreams.

DAD
That’s right. Goodnight darling.

Dad flicks off the light and PULLS THE DOOR SHUT. As he does so, the shaft of orange light from the hallway narrows.

EXT. MOUNTAIN RANGE -- SUNSET. *
A time lapse shot of long shadows and large aisles of sunlight thinning as a gorgeous sunset dips behind a magnificent New Zealand mountain range.

INT. GEORGIA’S BEDROOM -- CONTINUOUS
The shaft of golden hallway light on Georgia’s bedroom floor thins to a sliver and disappears altogether as her father CLOSES THE DOOR, leaving the room in near darkness but for
the glow of a small bright novelty night-light.
Georgia looks down at the folds in her blanket which form small ridges along her bed.
CLOSE UP on folds.

EXT. INCLINE VALLEY -- DAY. *
An awesome aerial shot - we appear to be flying over a large ridge of rocky terrain. The ridges perfectly match the composition of the ridges in Georgia’s blanket.

INT. GEORGIA’S BEDROOM -- CONTINUOUS.
Georgia looks around at the features of her typically girlie bedroom as a BREEZE enters through a window above her bed and GENTLY BLOWS her curtains inwards.

EXT. LUSH RAINFOREST -- DAY. *
An assortment of monstrous boughs bend and groan hauntingly as a wind gusts through the lush canopy.

INT. GEORGIA’S BEDROOM -- CONTINUOUS.
Georgia takes one last look around her bedroom then slowly closes her eyes. Her face relaxes and for a moment it seems
she’s dozed off. Then, she emphatically SQUEEZES her eyes tight and furrows her brow, concentrating hard.
A FLASH OF LIGHTNING illuminates the room in brilliant white light and is trailed by a loud clap of thunder.
Suddenly Georgia BURSTS from under her blanket, BOUNDS ACROSS her bedroom and UPTURNS a box of toys onto the floor.
She pulls a small toy aeroplane and studies it.

CUT TO: A minicam POV shot from atop the toy plane. Georgia’s giant fingers almost fill the frame, gripping the sides of the plane and flying it forward through the "air".
FOCUS ON background of cloud wallpaper on Georgia’s bedroom wall.

EXT. PANORAMIC NZ LANDSCAPE -- DAY. *
Flying forward through cloud we emerge into clear sky upon an awesome view of the spectacular New Zealand landscape - a real money shot.

INT. GEORGIA’S BEDROOM -- CONTINUOUS
RIFLING THROUGH THE TOYS scattered across the floor Georgia next picks out a small pink matchbox convertible and REVS IT
AROUND THE CARPET, making engine noises with her mouth.

EXT. WINDING ROAD -- DAY. *
Aerial shot of a lone vehicle winding its way along a beautiful country road in New Zealand.

INT. GEORGIA’S BEDROOM -- CONTINUOUS
Georgia is now laying on her stomach on the floor. She DRIVES THE TOY CAR through the other scattered toys, passing a PLASTIC WHALE.
FOCUS ON plastic toy whale.

EXT. OCEAN SURFACE -- DAY. *
A magnificent view of a pod of Whales breaching off the spectacular New Zealand coastline.

INT. GEORGIA’S BEDROOM -- CONTINUOUS.
Georgia’s duvet is pulled halfway off her bed, forming a slope of blanket along which SHE GUIDES A SMALL DOLL ON SKIS.

EXT. NEW ZEALAND SKI SLOPE -- DAY. *
A trio of snowboarders carve down along a picturesque New Zealand ski slope before a beautiful background of snow capped mountains.

INT. GEORGIA’S BEDROOM -- CONTINUOUS.
Georgia - giggling and clearly enjoying her playtime escape - CLIMBS INSIDE her wardrobe holding a small flashlight and
PULLS THE DOOR SHUT behind her, sealing herself in pitch black darkness. A moment passes before she SWITCHES ON the
flashlight...

INT. UNDERGROUND CAVE -- DAY.
...revealing her now standing in a large underground cave full of stalagmites and teeming with bats and glow worms. Behind Georgia we see the approaching headlamp of a CANYONER as he explores the dark abyss. She smiles at him as he passes.

INT. GEORGIA’S BEDROOM -- CONTINUOUS.
Georgia bursts out of her wardrobe, giddy with delight. She hurriedly plonks back down amongst her toys and scans them as she decides what to play with next.

EXT. LAKE WAKATIPU -- DAY. *
Aerial shot - angled down on the trees below as we swoop over them towards a large body of water - Lake Wakatipu. We move closer to the lake, then over it. The water sparkles.
In the distance we see a small dark shape floating in the water - too far away to tell exactly what it is.

INT. GEORGIA’S BEDROOM -- CONTINUOUS.
Georgia PLOUGHS the waves of her bedroom carpet with a small toy sailing boat.

EXT. LAKE WAKATIPU -- DAY. *
We continue to fly over the water upon a luxury yacht, it’s full sails pulling it across the glassy blue surface.

INT. GEORGIA’S BEDROOM -- CONTINUOUS.
As Georgia steers her toy boat her ears pique at the sound of rushing water emanating from off screen.

INT. BATHROOM -- NIGHT.
A motherly figure - MOM - busies herself as she runs a shower.

INT. GEORGIA’S BEDROOM -- CONTINUOUS.
Georgia CLOSES HER EYES as the noise of running water from off screen continues...

EXT. LAKE WAKATIPU -- DAY. *
The yacht approaches a towering waterfall. Water streams down from the cliff face, dispersing in a beautiful mist as it hits the surface. Standing on the yacht, a loving couple embrace amidst the spray. The woman turns and looks to the top of the cliff.

INT. GEORGIA’S BEDROOM -- CONTINUOUS.
Georgia turns and looks to the top of her chest of drawers.

INT. GEORGIA’S BEDROOM -- MOMENTS LATER.
Georgia CLIMBS the chest of drawers, like a steep staircase, pulling each new drawer out slightly to use as a hand/foothold as she climbs higher.

EXT. NEW ZEALAND MOUNTAIN SIDE -- DAY. *
A technical mountain climber ascends a harrowing glacier in New Zealand.

INT. GEORGIA’S BEDROOM -- CONTINUOUS.
Georgia - now standing on top of the chest of drawers - STEPS TO THE EDGE and it creaks under her weight. She surveys her bedroom below her and spots a KIWI BIRD as it
SCURRIES ACROSS the bedroom floor and retreats under her bed.
CLOSE UP on Kiwi.

EXT. LAKE WAKATIPU (WATERS EDGE) -- DAY.
We see Georgia - dressed in her pyjamas just as she is in her bedroom - standing on the edge of a low rocky outcrop jutting out over the surface of a beautiful expanse of
inviting water.
She TIPTOES CLOSER to the edge and slowly SPREADS HER ARMS WIDE, like wings.

INT. GEORGIA’S BEDROOM -- CONTINUOUS.
Georgia - now standing on the very lip-edge of the chest of drawers with arms outstretched - LEANS FORWARD and JUMPS
OFF, disappearing over the edge down towards the bedroom floor below.

INT. MASTER BEDROOM -- NIGHT.
Mom and Dad are lying in bed together reading magazines. Suddenly a crashing THUMP can clearly be heard coming from
elsewhere in the house. Mom slaps her magazine down onto her lap and turns to Dad.

MOM
What’s she doing?

DAD
Georgia!

INT. HALLWAY -- NIGHT.
We follow Dad as he WALKS DOWN THE HALL and ENTERS Georgia’s bedroom.

INT. GEORGIA’S BEDROOM -- CONTINUOUS.
Dad flicks on the light and finds Georgia standing in the middle of the room, SOAKING WET from head to toe. Her pyjamas are DRENCHED. Standing with her is a TRIBAL MAORI WOMAN, her hands resting gently on Georgia’s shoulders as they share a ’Hongi’.
The bedroom around them is filled with a mix of characters standing guard, observing the moment. They are: the trio of SNOWBOARDERS, a small group of JAPANESE TOURISTS, a FLY FISHERMAN, the YACHT COUPLE, the technical MOUNTAIN CLIMBER (repelling from the ceiling), a HOLIDAYING FAMILY sporting beachwear, a pair of BACKPACKERS, the CANYONER and numerous MAORI WARRIORS.
All around them ferns and assorted stems of lush foliage poke from every nook and cranny. A fine mist circles their feet.

DAD
(oblivious to the change in the room and the menagerie of characters)
What have you been doing?

Georgia looks up with an expression of quasi guilt and GIGGLES mischievously.

GEORGIA
Nothing.

The Tribal Maori Woman flashes a smile at Georgia.

DAD
You’re drenched!

Dad WALKS OVER to the open window and SHUTS OUT THE RAIN. The Characters part to make room for him as he goes, watching him intently.
Dad bundles Georgia into his arms.
The characters watch as he carries her out of the room, flicks off the light and reaches for the door behind him.

DAD
(kissing Georgia’s head)
Where on earth have you been?

From the hallway we see the smiling characters disappear behind the bedroom door as Dad pulls it shut.

END.

I’m Kade Robinson, a 25 year old Sydney based advertising creative with a passion for filmmaking, specifically writing and directing.

I've made several short films over the past 6 years and have gained most of my experience along the usual route of working on low budget short films (my own and those of others) and local television productions. In the past I’ve tasted moderate competition success, having taken out the Viewers Choice award in the 2008 MTV One80Project – a competition to create a 3 minute trailer for a youth oriented drama series on MTV.

Right now I'm hoping for a REALLY big break. The opportunity to work with and learn from the talent involved with YBB is obviously one that I'm incredibly excited about - to say that I'm ready and hungry for this challenge would be a gross understatement.

Aside from the points made in my pitch to camera, the only other vital component of my film that I'd like to expand on is that of music selection. The majority of my film will be set to music, specifically a track that amplifies the sense of childlike wonder and discovery. An absolutely perfect track would be ‘Pure Imagination’ by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley (performed by Gene Wilder in the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory). Whilst I’m under no delusion as to the difficulty and expense of licensing such a recording, it will give you an idea of the kind of playful/magical feel I’m trying to achieve.

Below are links to 2 other examples, the style's of which would also be suitable. Ultimately I will utilize an original recording by a New Zealand singer/songwriter that can compliment the themes of my film in a fashion similar to these tracks.

Thanks for the opportunity! I hope you enjoy my script.
