IN THE PARK

EXT. GARDEN QUEENSTOWN – DAY
(SEQUENCE SHOT)
We are in a garden in Queenstown.
We can hear the calls of a various number of animals off screen: sheep, cows, ducks, different birds, a dog…
2 WORKING MEN come in carrying a GARDEN BENCH. They place the bench in the garden, directly in front of us. They go away.
A Mother pushing a baby pram comes in. The Baby inside is crying.
She sits in the bench and starts rocking the pram back and forth and singing. She sings POKAREKARE ANA, a cappella. Slowly the animals and the baby quieten down until the only sound we hear is the mother’s voice.
As she finishes the song the baby falls asleep. The animals are silent. She goes away pushing the pram.
Then a young boy comes in with a ball under his arm, he sits down in the bench, resting his legs.
Suddenly we hear the sheep SINGING the first lines of POKAREKARE ANA… then the COWS sing a few lines more, then the DUCKS, then the DOG, the CAT….
The boy just looks around, amazed. The animals finish the song just as the boy’s father comes in.
The Boy stands up excited.
BOY
The animals are singing!
FATHER
That’s great.
They go away together.
The 2 WORKING MEN come in again. They are holding a BIG WOODEN SIGN that says: “100%PURE”. They rest the sign in the bench for a moment catching their breath. One of them drinks some water.
MY WORK AND EXPERIENCE:
I’ve been working in Film and Television for 13 years, in Portugal and UK. I have a BA in Film in Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema of Lisbon. I’ve have worked professionally as a Sound Operator, Editor, Director and Scriptwriter. I’m currently editing my first long feature Film which I wrote, directed and produced with some friends in Portugal. It was shot in HD Video.
I can operate video editing systems and sound editing systems and software.

This is a short 3 minute MINI DV video that I made with a friend for a Video Marathon. I had 48 hours to have the idea, shoot and edit the video. We won the second place.

My Big Break…
When I was living in Wellington I used to dream that one day I would be driving that road to Miramar on my way to edit my film in Park Road Studios. I have a very personal relationship with New Zealand. My girlfriend is a New Zealander. And of course having my work judged by Peter Jackson and Barry Osborne is just overwhelming!
